History

1947 – The first meeting of the Norway Improvement League was held in the one room school in town. Five veterans attended. They were Bob Ness, Floyd Ness, Ole Twait, Glen Hoover, and Wayne Borchsenius. After that first meeting the major goal of the organization was to create a park where the children of the community could play. I think their goal was achieved.

1971 – Started Bingo to raise funds.

1975 – Purchased land for park and building, completed first ball diamond, created playground.

1981 – Completed construction of the Norway Community Building

1982 – Purchased additional land for second ball diamond.

Future Plans:

· Add picnic shelters to park
· Additional bleachers to baseball fields
· Refurbish basketball and tennis court
· Update playground

Why Should I Join the Norway Improvement League?

As a member, you will be publicly affirming the value of the Norway community for you and your family.

Your participation will aid in the upkeep of the Norway Community Building, the Cleng Peerson Memorial Park and the appearance of the whole village.

You will be helping otheer organizations in the community such as Little League teams, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4-H Clubs, TOPS, Sons of Norway, Norsk Museum, and other clubs and not-for-profit organizations.

Your membership and dues provide a vital organization to the community that has been serving Norway and the surrounding area for more that 60 years.

The Norway Improvement League meets the third Monday of every month at 7:00pm, January through November. Come join us!
